A Life Lesson

The idea for this layout came from a Creating Keepsakes Call featuring lessons learned from Dad. As I was waiting for my pictures to return, I thought this would be a good topic to use with my layout. The layout is simple, but the journaling was difficult, as I had many things to say. The papers are from Paper Loft, Letters from Basic Grey and 'Lil Davis, Ink and Ribbon-SU!, Stamps-Autumn Leaves, Metal Embellishments-Imagensce. Here's the journaling:

His life has been a lesson for his children, grandchildren and others that know him.
Coming from a large family, where money was little, he has taught us to love and remain loyal to each other. His work ethic taught us to do our best in any pursuit, pay our bills on time, don’t live on credit, be on time and don’t lie. Listening to his stories, we’ve learned to appreciate true friendships and good memories. His spiritual walk with Christ has taught us scriptures from the Bible, songs from a hymnal, giving to others and praying before meals and bedtime. Being a lover of sports, we’ve learned the game of football, to swing a bat, catch and kick a ball, deal with defeat and respect the referee. Through his work travels, he knew the importance of being prepared and therefore taught us to read a map, change a flat tire, check the oil in a car, buy a new car, pay for a traffic violation and never leave home with less than half of a tank of gas in the car. Watching his social interactions, we have learned how to interview for a job, use our matters, laugh and tell a good joke. Being a gentleman, he showed how ladies needed to be treated, be home by curfew time and not kiss a boyfriend on the front porch. Helping with chores, he’s taught me to mow a lawn, clean gutters, hammer a nail, paint a wall, cut a whole chicken, grill a “mean” steak and peel potatoes. On a more personal note, he taught me how to go through a divorce proceeding, budget my money, apply for a loan, be a single-parent to two boys, purchase a house and build a home. And, I’ll never forget him teaching me how to swallow a pill, even if it took singing the Mary Poppin’s song and a spoon full of sugar.
HIS LIFE HAS BEEN MY LESSON.

Thanks for looking!
