Using those scraps...

My sister’s birthday was also this month, one week prior to my mother’s special day. I had fun making her card while using lots of items from my stash. This is a great way to use those “extras” from your patterned paper pile.

The base of the card was made with SU! Kraft cardstock. I embossed the SU! Basic Black cardstock using a Cuttlebug embossing folder. The fun part began as I chose different patterns of paper to layer next to each other. I decided to use reds and blacks as the primary colors. These patterned pieces are from 7 Gypsies and Sassafras Lass. The SU! Scalloped border punch helped with designing the edge of the layered pieces. Using my neglected MorningStar stamps, I stamped the sentiment onto a circle piece of Very Vanilla CS and layered it onto a black scalloped border. The Spellbinders Nestabilities came in handy with these 2 pieces. The final pieces-Bazzill flower, vintage button, twine and ribbon-were all in my stash.

I have several of the MorningStar stamps with a circle design and was able to duplicate this card for other occasions. I can’t wait to try this design again using different sets of colors.

Have an awesome weekend!

Leslie

Wow, using those scrapes. You are a born quilter and just don't know it. Love the card. And love you.
