French Flair for a Sympathy Card

I never seem to have a sympathy card when needed and dislike making cards if stressed. But, if I make several sympathy cards in advance, I am always satisfied with the look of the card. I'm not sure if it is because of the color schemes (not to bright), or limited use of embellishments, but the cards just look nice to me. (Maybe this should be a wake-up call for my future cards-LOL!) I usually use background stamps on my sympathy cards, as I love them and they are easy to use. Friends that stamp with me know about my love for background stamps and I would definitely suggest one for a beginner stamper.
This card uses two SU! background stamps-French Script (retired) and French Flair. Only two colors of ink and cardstock were used on this card-Basic Black and Sahara Sand. Two oval punches made the bookplate for my sentiment, taken from the SU! stamp set, Hope for Comfort (retired). Then I used black organdy ribbon (SU!) on top of a wider ivory ribbon (from Hobby Lobby). The SU! ticket punch was used on all the corners to add a touch of elegance to my card.
I realize it may be frustrating when cards are shown using retired stamp sets. I'm one to keep some of my retired sets at the end of the SU! year. I'm sure your local demonstrator could access some SU! groups to locate a retired stamp set for you or check EBay, as it is full of some old and slightly used sets.
I hope you had a great Labor Day!
Thanks for visiting!
